The Bazaruto and Quirimbas Archipelagos are protected chains of tropical islands with amazing marine life. Bazaruto Marine National Park consists of a group of six islands and covers a large expanse of ocean. The area was declared a national park in order to protect dugong and marine turtles and their natural habitats. The Quirimbas Archipelago comprises of 32 individual coral islands, some of which are said to be the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. They are a haven for sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, whales and the elusive dugong.
